The result is that Jennifer and Jason remain married in Murder Takes the Stage. Their relationship now exists in the context of an empty nest, but it hasn’t been discarded to manufacture a new conflict. For viewers worried that seven years away might mean a completely different Shannon family, that’s likely the most reassuring detail of the return.

Loughlin also enjoyed reuniting with Bacic. She praised the cast’s work as a whole, crediting her fellow actors with bringing depth to the material.

Loughlin said there have been conversations about possibly making more Garage Sale Mysteries films, and she’s hopeful the franchise will continue. For now, Murder Takes the Stage is the confirmed return. It also arrives amid another Hallmark homecoming for Loughlin, who is returning for Season 14 of When Calls the Heart. She told TV Insider she was grateful to Hallmark for the chance to reprise Jennifer and for the care put into the new movie.
