Mistletoe Murders Season 3: Sarah Drew Returns to Hallmark
Christmas in Fletcher’s Grove has never been all twinkling lights and holiday cheer. But Mistletoe Murders Season 3 is making the town’s secrets feel more dangerous than ever. Sarah Drew returns as Emily Lane, a shopkeeper whose talent for solving murders is matched only by her complicated past. Following its November 5 premiere on Hallmark Channel, the six-episode season brings three new mysteries, familiar faces, intriguing guest stars, and a personal reckoning that could upend everything Emily has built. And yes, that jaw-dropping doorstep cliffhanger is finally getting a follow-up.
Emily’s Past Has Arrived—and It Is Not Waiting Politely
Season 2 ended with Emily taking an enormous emotional risk: she finally told Detective Sam Wilner, played by Peter Mooney, the truth about who she used to be. For a character who’s kept so much hidden, that confession was no small step.
Then came the knock at the door. Emily expected Sam the following morning, but Aaron was standing there instead. Season 3 picks up right from that moment, putting her face-to-face with someone whose arrival threatens the life she’s built in Fletcher’s Grove.
Aaron’s Return Changes the Stakes
Aaron Ashmore plays Aaron, and his confrontation with Emily sets the season’s central personal conflict in motion. His presence makes her question things she once believed were true. This is more than another round of holiday sleuthing.
Speaking during the Hallmark Christmas Cruise 2026, Drew described the tension this way: This season is about Emily wrestling with her past that’s just come back and is threatening to destroy everything she’s built. She also teased plenty of flashbacks, giving viewers another reason to watch the details of Emily’s history.
The First Mystery Comes With a Very Familiar Hallmark Face
Emily and Sam may have unfinished personal business, but murder investigations aren’t taking a Christmas vacation. The season features three mysteries, each unfolding across two episodes, giving every case room for clues, complications, and suspicious behavior.
The opening investigation introduces a wreathmaker accused of killing her husbands. It’s a holiday-themed setup that already sounds tailor-made for the series, and the casting adds a fun twist for longtime Hallmark viewers.
Catherine Bell Steps Into the Suspect Spotlight
Good Witch favorite Catherine Bell plays the accused wreathmaker. Fans are used to seeing Bell bring warmth and reassurance to Hallmark stories, so watching her character come under suspicion makes for a particularly fun change of pace.
Bell isn’t the season’s only notable guest. Holly Robinson Peete and Brendan Morgan also appear, alongside Ashmore. Morgan also stars in Merry Memories, the Countdown to Christmas movie scheduled for November 6, putting him right in the middle of Hallmark’s holiday festivities.
Fletcher’s Grove Is Giving Emily Another Reason to Stay
The show’s appeal has always gone beyond its murder cases. Fletcher’s Grove is full of personalities who make the town worth revisiting, even when its seasonal celebrations have a habit of attracting criminal investigations.
This season, Violet and June nominate Emily for town Cheerman, hoping the role will persuade her to stay in Fletcher’s Grove. It’s a community-minded gesture with a clear emotional purpose: they want her to keep calling this place home.
Familiar Locals Have Their Own Developments Ahead
Fans can also expect a new path for Famous Ray, more time with diner owner Sue, and an update on Brooke. These returning characters keep the series rooted in the community Emily stands to lose if her past overwhelms her present.
That balance matters. The murders provide the puzzles, but the relationships give them emotional weight. With Emily’s future suddenly uncertain, even the town’s efforts to draw her closer carry a little more significance.
The Ice-Skating Sequence Has a Behind-the-Scenes Twist
Drew has promised bigger stakes, and she’s also highlighted the season’s visual spectacle. Among the set pieces she discussed on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise was an ice-skating show she called beautiful and epic.
There’s also a romantic moment on the ice involving Emily and Sam. Getting there took some serious preparation from Mooney, and led to a filming story that sounds a lot less graceful than the finished scene was meant to be.
Peter Mooney Learned to Skate, Then One Dip Went Wrong
According to Drew, Mooney learned to skate for the show and worked hard at it. She praised his performance, but recalled one moment when enthusiasm got the better of them: he spun her around, pulled her close, and tried a dip.
Instead, both actors fell, with Mooney landing on top of Drew. Her immediate response was to reassure everyone, shouting, I’m okay, everyone! It’s an amusing story on its own, but another detail explains why the crew had extra reason to worry.
Sarah Drew’s Season 2 Injury Required Some TV Magic
Drew revealed that she broke her hand just 10 days before filming wrapped on Season 2. The production had to work around her injury during the final two episodes, using screen trickery to hide the cast.
Her description of the challenge was refreshingly candid: she’s in a cast, she’s not in a cast. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes revelation that might send devoted viewers back for a closer look.
Season 3 Came With a Welcome Improvement
Fortunately, Drew reported no broken bones during the new season. As she put it, So this season I did not break any bones, which is delightful. Given the ice-skating tumble, that’s a particularly welcome outcome.
Drew and Mooney have also been connecting with viewers away from the set. The pair appeared together at the Jingle Stop Tour’s Chicago stop in October, giving fans another chance to see them ahead of their characters’ latest adventures.
When to Watch Mistletoe Murders Season 3
The new season premiered Thursday, November 5, as part of Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas 2026 programming. Episodes air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET, with next-day streaming available on Hallmark+.
With six episodes scheduled and the finale set for December 10, the season offers a weekly holiday mystery appointment. Each two-part investigation gives viewers time to build theories before the next installment arrives.
How to Catch Up Before the Next Mystery Deepens
Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix if you need to revisit Emily’s journey. Hallmark has also posted the first seven minutes of Season 3 on its YouTube channel, giving fans a preview of the long-awaited continuation.
Between Aaron’s arrival, Catherine Bell’s suspicious wreathmaker, and Emily’s increasingly complicated connection with Sam, there’s plenty to keep an eye on. The biggest mystery, though, may be whether Emily can protect the life she finally let herself build.
