1) Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival

I’ve watched the Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival become a real holiday tradition since it kicked off in 2015. Each winter, Jones Park in Gulfport turns into a bright and bustling spot for locals and visitors.
Families can check out carnival rides and hop on a train that winds through the park. Santa Claus is there for photos, of course.
You’ll spot a Ferris wheel, a lighthouse decked out in lights, and themed areas like Santa’s Village. Thousands of colorful lights fill the park every year, and the fish light display always gives a nod to the Gulf Coast’s maritime roots.
There’s plenty of food and seasonal treats for sale if you get hungry.

2) Lewis Lights and Crafts

I swing by Lewis Lights and Crafts every year because, honestly, it’s one of the biggest private light displays you’ll find in Mississippi. The Lewis family started lighting up their place for the public over 35 years ago, and now their display stretches across several acres.
You can stroll along easy paths and check out different themes and displays. It’s a mix of classic holiday scenes, light tunnels, and a few handmade touches.
Locals and travelers both show up, and the whole thing feels organized and friendly for all ages.
They open a craft and gift shop during the holidays, too. I’ve seen people picking up ornaments and homemade crafts as souvenirs.
Parking usually sits close to the entrance, but if you’re coming on a weekend, try to get there early—those spots fill up quick.
Lewis Lights usually opens around Thanksgiving weekend and keeps going every night until December wraps up, if the weather plays nice. Entry is free, but donations help the family keep things running.

3) Glydewell Christmas Lights

I’ve checked out a bunch of Christmas displays, but Glydewell Christmas Lights in Carriere always stands out for its simple charm. The lights go up at a private home, so everything feels personal and welcoming.
It’s easy to find, tucked away in a quiet community outside the big cities. When I stopped by, families walked or drove past to see the lights.
The whole thing isn’t flashy or commercial. It’s just right for people who want a relaxed night out and a true neighborhood vibe.
The folks running it keep everyone posted on their social media page. They share hours, let you know when the lights are on, and post weather updates.
Since parking and amenities are limited, I try to visit when things are less crowded.

4) Fredrick’s Drive thru lights

Fredrick’s Drive thru lights deserves a spot here because it offers a straightforward, no-fuss holiday light experience. You just drive through and enjoy the displays from your car.
That’s perfect for families or anyone who wants a low-stress Christmas outing.
You’ll find the drive-thru just outside Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Signs on local roads make it easy to spot.
There’s plenty of space for parking and turning around, so getting in and out is simple.
I haven’t seen ticket prices or opening dates for 2025 yet. Most drive-thru displays around here usually open right after Thanksgiving and keep going through December.
It’s smart to check for updates before you go, just in case.
Hattiesburg has several hotels and motels nearby if you’re planning to stay overnight.

5) Highlights Holiday Lighting

Highlights Holiday Lighting in Gulfport, Mississippi, really stands out for its seasonal setups. This spot offers lighting services, helping homes and businesses go all out with Christmas lights.
Their team works with clients to create custom outdoor displays and handles both setup and takedown.
From what I’ve seen, there’s not really a walk-through public display here. Instead, they help decorate homes and businesses all over Gulfport.
If you want to see their work, you might need to check with local homeowners or drive around to spot their latest projects.
I’d suggest calling them for details or to get on their schedule.
Booking early is smart since installers get busy fast during the holidays. There’s no single big event, but Highlights Holiday Lighting definitely helps spread the holiday spirit around Gulfport.

6) Christmas Nights in Lights

I made the short trip to Christmas Nights in Lights just over the state line in Irvington, Alabama. It’s not far from Mississippi and stands as one of the biggest drive-through light shows near here.
They set it up at Mobile International Speedway, so there’s loads of space for cars.
This display opens in mid-November and runs through January 1. I just stayed in my car, turned off my headlights, and tuned the radio to a Christmas music station.
The lights sync up with the music, which is pretty cool. The whole show stretches over 1.5 miles and takes about an hour, with songs ranging from classic to modern.
You drive through at your own pace, but stopping isn’t allowed. Everyone has to stay in their cars to keep things safe and moving along.
If traffic isn’t too bad, sometimes you can drive through twice in one night, which is a nice bonus.
I’d recommend grabbing tickets ahead of time since time slots fill up, especially on weekends. Reservations are required, and your ticket only works for the slot you booked.

7) Holmes Water Park

Every year, I swing by Holmes Water Park in Tylertown and notice how the crowds keep getting bigger for the holiday lights. The Christmas light display covers paths, trees, and open spaces, turning the whole park into this glowing spot after dark.
Parking usually sits close to the entrance, which makes life easier for families with little ones. The displays lean into classic Christmas themes and stick to simple designs—nothing too over the top.
As I wander, I spot lights on fences, playgrounds, and bridges. Sometimes, food and drink vendors show up with hot chocolate or popcorn, so I never go hungry.
You’ll find the park right near the center of Tylertown. Most people spend about an hour strolling the route, maybe a little longer if the kids want to linger.
I’d say get there near opening time if you want to dodge the weekend crowds.

8) Finishline Performance Karting

Finishline Performance Karting in Biloxi stands out as a pretty unique spot for family activities during winter. They offer outdoor go-kart racing with two tracks, so you get different types of driving challenges.
Adults and kids can both jump in on the races. There are even special karts for beginners and younger drivers.
Besides racing, I like that there’s a full arcade for when I need a break from the track. They’ve got food and TV screens everywhere showing live timing and whatever sports are on.
Party rooms make it easy for group events or birthday gatherings. There’s also mini golf and a zipline tucked into the same spot.
The location sits right on the beachfront, which makes things feel extra festive around the holidays. The staff at Finishline Performance Karting always help organize daily races and special events, so there’s usually something going on.

9) Lazy Acres Farm Fun

I checked out Lazy Acres Farm Fun in Chunky, Mississippi, last holiday season. The whole farm transforms into a lively Christmas destination with activities for all ages.
They set up trees, lights, and cheerful displays everywhere. Families looking for a relaxed holiday experience seem to really enjoy it.
Photo spots pop up around the property, and food stands keep everyone fueled. Kids and adults get to enjoy farm-themed attractions, which makes the visit feel different from a typical holiday event.
Lazy Acres also hosts special events throughout the year, not just at Christmas. I’d suggest buying tickets online to skip the wait when you arrive.
The farm sits in a pretty rural area, so planning ahead is smart. I always check their official website for dates and event details since those can change each year.

kris kringle Tips
Dress in cozy layers for Mississippi Christmas markets—think a light sweater, a denim or flannel jacket, jeans, and comfortable shoes. Bring a scarf or hat for chilly evenings, but remember, winters here are usually mild—so leave the heavy coat at home!
10) Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX)

I like visiting The MAX in Meridian because it mixes history and art in one spot. When Christmas rolls around, The MAX hosts special exhibits and events that highlight Mississippi’s creative traditions.
Local artists and holiday themes take center stage in these displays. As I wander the museum, I see exhibits about music, art, and theater.
They decorate with lights and arrange everything to showcase Mississippi’s stories and legends. Since the setting is indoors, families can enjoy a holiday outing even if it’s cold out.
Every year, The MAX brings in new performances, workshops, and classes. I’ve caught seasonal concerts, tried a holiday craft or two, and explored interactive exhibits.
Because the museum focuses on Mississippi artists, I always walk away learning something new about the state’s creative side—and the festive atmosphere just makes it better.
